The Pistons have started out this season on fire. They are currently 8-3 and Andre Drummond figured out how to shoot free throws. He could either be out of his mind or he could be heading towards Curry mode… The jury is still out on that.
The Pistons are built to challenge in the East. They aren’t the Orlando Magic, they have the roster construction to make a deep dive into the playoffs in the same breath as Cleveland, Milwaukee, and Boston.
Detroit has their point guard in Reggie Jackson – he won’t give you 22 and 10 consistently. But, you know you will get 16 & 6 on a nightly basis. With the addition of Avery Bradley, they will be able to defend the wing well – especially in a conference with Kyrie Irving and John Wall. Tobias Harris has honestly been underrated his entire career, but now he is a crucial part to contention. Harris is averaging 19.7 PPG, and 4.8 REB on the season and he will show no signs of slowing down.
Andre Drummond is obviously the star of this team. He is currently averaging 14.2 PPG and 15.6 REB and a surprising 3.2 APG. This team is on the same page and flowing better than the Amazon River. The only crutch they have is a bench – Ish Smith has been the bright spot for them backing up Reggie Jackson – but they need more from the rest of the bench. Outside of Smith’s 17 points, the bench scored 14 points against the Hawks. If the bench steps up, and they avoid the injury bug – they will be relevant to a playoff run.
