LaVar Ball told ESPN that his sons LiAngelo and LaMelo Ball have signed with agent Harrison Gaines, ending any speculation that LaMelo will play college basketball. The plan is now for both to play on the same team overseas.
“I don’t care about the money,” LaVar Ball said on Thursday morning. “I want them to go somewhere where they will play them together on the court at the same time. The priority is for the boys to play on the same team.”
Well, all the rumors appear to be true. Big Baller Brand has officially gone pro 100% – much earlier than anyone expected. After Gelo was withdrawn from UCLA, it was pretty obvious that he would go play overseas. Reports had surfaced that LiAngelo had no chance at being drafted by any NBA team, even before the shoplifting fiasco.
The plan from LaVar now is to have both of them play on the same team overseas, and then sign with the Lakers when they’re eligible. I sincerely doubt either of them will ever play in the NBA, they just aren’t talented enough – definitely not on Lonzo’s level. The move to China not only will provide the remaining Ball brothers with a pro career, but this was an obvious business move. In China, they can become fan favorites and sell a ton of merch. China is the most populated place on Earth, makes sense to bring the brand full force to Asia.
