Led by a 30 point, 10 rebound, and nine assist effort from sophomore guard Ky Bowman, Boston College handed No. 1 Duke their first loss of the season, 89-84. Prior to their victory, Boston College had lost 23 straight against teams ranked in the top 25.
Duke joins No. 2 Kansas and No. 5 Florida as other top teams upset against unranked opponents this week.
Despite being down 79-75 with 3:11 left in the second half, Boston remained poised on the offensive end. Junior guard Jerome Robinson fueled a 15-5 run to finish the contest, hitting two 3-point shots to take and protect the lead. Robinson finished with 24 points.
Junior guard Jordan Chatman contributed 22 points as well, marking the first time Boston College has had three players score 20 or more points in a game since 2007.
Gary Trent Jr. led all Duke players with 25 points, and Marvin Bagley Jr. contributed 15 points and 12 rebounds. Grayson Allen struggled from the field, shooting 5-for-20 from the field with 14 points. All of Duke’s starters scored in double digits, but were outscored by the Boston College starters 87-74.
