The Houston Rockets have just signed free agent Gerald Green today. Green played 11 minutes in tonights loss over the Boston Celtics, where he was held scoreless going 0-3 from the field. Green suited up on such short notice for the Rockets since they are plagued by numerous injuries to players such as Chris Paul, Clint Capela, and Luc Mbah a Moute. David Aldridge reported in tonights game that Green happened to be on a flight to Boston to see his son when he was signed. Tonight he suited up for the Rockets, as he wore teammate Trevor Ariza’s shoes to play since he did not have any packed with him.
Including the Houston Rockets, which Green has previously played for in the ’07-’08 season, Green has played on 8 different NBA teams in his career. Green will add another scoring threat to the Rockets, who is both capable of hitting an open shot and getting hot at any moment. Green is well known for his athleticism but is also an underrated shooter, shooting at 36.1% from 3 in his career, which is very important if you are a member of this Rockets team. Until key players return for the Rockets, Green will be used as a key role player, most likely getting minutes determined by his day to day performance and game flow. It will be interesting to see what kind of usage he will get once players like Paul and Mbah a Moute return but as long as Green can consistently hit the open three expect for him to get minutes for this Rockets team. Most NBA fans who are aware of Greens career highlights will like to see what kind of plays he is capable of making, playing with Harden and Paul who are two of the best playmakers and lob throwers in the association today.
