Fueled by a 32-point, seven-rebound effort from junior Keita Bates-Diop, Ohio State(13-4, 4-0) upset conference rival No. 1 Michigan State(15-2, 3-1), 80-64.

Along with Bates-Diop, who leads the Big Ten in scoring, guard CJ Jackson had 14 points and 6 rebounds, and forward Jae’Sean Tate contributed 13 points.

Despite 17 points a piece from Joshua Langford and Miles Bridges, the Spartans could not save their 14-game win streak. Their last loss came on November 14 against No. 2 Duke.

The Buckeyes harassing defense kept Michigan State to under 70 points for just the third time all season. The Spartans were held to 39.7% from the field and had 13 assists, as opposed to their season average of 55.3 FG% and 22.4 APG.

The last time the Buckeyes upset a No. 1 ranked team came in 2007, in a 49-48 win over Wisconsin. With the win, Ohio State improved to 9-11 against No. 1 ranked teams all-time.
