Damian Lillard’s Chances of Being Snubbed from His Third Straight ASG

With the All-Star voting happening in the past few days, there will be some surprises in this year’s All-Star game. The style of East vs. West has been scrapped, and the style is now like pickup basketball, where you choose your team and face the other team who was chosen by their designated captain(LeBron James and Stephen Curry).

The starters for the guards are James Harden, Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving, and DeMar DeRozan. There are several other players that can still be chosen with the coaches vote into the all-star game, so Damian has a chance to make it, just not a very high chance. He would have to get more votes than Chris Paul, Paul George, and Nikola Jokic.

Damian is one of the most underrated players in the NBA. He has averaged over 25 points a game the past 3 seasons and has not been on an All-Star team since the 2014-2015 season! The West is the most stacked conference, with last years MVP, the Front-runner for this years MVP, and the only Unanimous MVP all trying to make All-Star spots.

Damian Lillard has been with the Trailblazers his whole career, and went from a promising young talent to the star of his team in just one offseason with the departure of 4 out of the 5 starters on his team. His hard-work is yet to be acknowledged by the NBA and most of the fans, due to his team being boring to watch at times and his inability to go deep in the playoffs.

His chances are slim, but if the Coaches decide that it’s too much to leave a player who’s leading a mediocre team to the 8th seed in the west, is averaging over 25 points a game, and is playing much better defense this season than he ever has, he won’t be snubbed for his 3rd straight ASG. But if coaches decide that Nikola Jokic or Paul George deserve this spot more than Lillard, than Lillard’s chances to make future ASG’s may fall due to new up and coming stars.
